Colombia took center stage at the highly anticipated New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2024, offering a vibrant showcase of its rich and diverse cultural heritage. With a lineup boasting over 175 Colombian artists, the festival offered an immersive journey through the rhythmic tapestry of salsa, cumbia, champeta, vallenato, chirimía, currulao, and the evocative cowboy songs known as "Canciones de vaquería".
From April 25th to 28th, and May 2nd to 5th, over 500,000 festivalgoers experienced firsthand Colombia’s true beauty. Renowned Colombian performers such as Grupo Niche, Bomba Estéreo, Jacobo Vélez y La Mambanegra, Los Cumbia Stars, among others, graced the festival's 14 stages, captivating audiences with their unparalleled talent.
The Government of Colombia's support for the Festival’s Cultural Exchange Pavilion Program underscored its commitment to fostering dialogue and artistic integration between Colombia and the United States. This initiative seeks to forge connections among the African diaspora in the Americas by cultivating creative and artistic exchange spaces.
