Washington D.C., January 10, 2025 –The Embassy of Colombia in the United States proudly unveiled the Country Platform, an innovative initiative consolidating a portfolio of strategic investment projects focused on energy transition, sustainable transportation, and conservation.
The launch took place in a series of events and encounters held on January 8 and 9 with the presence in Washington D.C. of a high-level delegation, including Laura Sarabia, President Gustavo Petro’s Chief of Staff; Diego Guevara, Minister of Finance; Susana Muhamad, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development; and Andrés Camacho, Minister of Mining and Energy, headed by Daniel García-Peña, Colombian Ambassador to the U.S.
A central part of the launch was a strategic meeting held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where a portfolio of nationally significant projects was presented, aimed at advancing the country’s socio-ecological transition, to attract responsible investment from the private sector. Several of the U.S. companies present expressed their willingness to build and strengthen partnerships.
The delegation also participated in a high-level roundtable with representatives from the U.S. administration, led by John Podesta, Senior Advisor for International Climate Policy, as well as representatives of other allied nations, multilateral banks, and philanthropic organizations. During these discussions, Colombia presented its strategic priorities and emphasized its financial commitments and readiness to collaborate with international stakeholders willing to support these priorities.
This visit by the Colombian delegation under the auspices of the Embassy of Colombia in the U.S. underscored 18 months of cohesive and coordinated efforts, reflecting a comprehensive and strategic approach to addressing global challenges. Under the leadership of President Gustavo Petro, Colombia continues to emerge as a key actor in promoting sustainable solutions and strengthening its role on the international stage.
