U.S. Vice President Biden Visits Colombian Flower Farm
During his May 27 visit to Colombia, U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden toured a Colombian flower farm, which exports more than half of its flowers to the United States. Colombia is the largest supplier of flowers to the U.S., accounting for more than two-thirds of imports.
Colombia's First Lady & Dr. Biden Visit Escuela Taller de Bogotá
On May 27, Colombia's First Lady María Clemencia de Santos and Dr. Jill Biden visited the Escuela Taller de Bogotá – a program that provides training in various art forms to vulnerable populations – and witnessed the making of Colombian handicrafts that are exported around the world.
The Growing U.S.-Colombia Economic Partnership
The U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement (FTA), implemented on May 15, 2012, is expanding the U.S. and Colombian economies through increased exports, investment and job creation. Between June 2012 and February 2013, two-way trade totaled $28.5 billion.
