The Labor Unions play and active role in decision making and as shaping forces of Colombian society. At present, there are approximately one million unionized workers, and over 7,650 unions registered with the Ministry of Social Protection.  The Government of Colombia is committed to promote security and provide strong legal frameworks to guarantee their rights.

Since 2006, the Government of Colombia has also fundamentally strengthened its relationship with the International Labor Organization, and has created a cooperative partnership that is exemplified by the signing of the 2006 Tripartite Agreement on Freedom of Association and Democracy at the ILO’s Annual Meeting in Geneva and the opening of an ILO Office in Colombia to provide cooperation.

In this section you will find State Policies, special programs and general information regarding Unions in Colombia.
